Superb Internet Launches cPanel Enkompass Control Panel for Windows 2008

Superb Internet is now offering Enkompass, cPanel’s control panel for Windows 2008, for their dedicated server plans. For the cPanel enthusiasts, this is great news because now we have an option of using Windows OS instead of being bound to Linux if we want to use cPanel. As far as the look and feel is concerned, Enkompass is pretty identical to cPanel so you should be quite familiar with it as long as you used the Linux control panel in the past.
For those that are not familiar with cPanel or Enkompass, these are control panels available to make managing a dedicated server easier. These control panels will allow you to create accounts within your dedicated server or virtual private server so you can easily setup your websites. In addition, setting up email accounts and managing DNS is simpler without the need to learn Apache or IIS in detail.
I ordered a dedicated server with Enkompass and I learned a couple things regarding requirements. First, Enkompass is a control panel made specifically for Windows and the only operating systems that is supported are Windows 2008 and Windows 2008 R2 versions of Web, Standard, Datacenter, or Enterprise editions. As far as hardware is concerned, the dedicated server should have at the bare minimum a dual-core CPU. Having a quad-core is recommended. When you order your server, be sure to include at least 2GB of memory because the control panel will suck up some of your system resources. My recommendation is to get the following server configuration:
- Core i7 quad-core processor, 6GB DDR3 RAM, 500GB SATAII Hard Drive – Configure
A lot of us have been waiting for Enkompass and it is a welcome alternative to Parallel Plesk. Just a heads up, Fantastico is not supported on Enkompass but cPanel reports this is high on their list of features they are working on with regards to their product road map. Fantastico is popular feature within cPanel that allows you to easily install applications automatically. Nevertheless, Enkompass is a pretty sweet software and highly recommended for Windows dedicated servers.
Comparing Hosting Companies: Superb Internet vs GoDaddy

You mention the name of a web hosting company to the average Joe and chances are he will not know what the company is nor what the company does. However, there is one company that comes close and would win in a web hosting popularity contest. GoDaddy has become one of the most popular web hosting companies due to its advertising done during a Super Bowl commercial featuring Danica Patrick. Founded by entrepreneur Bob Parsons, GoDaddy today remains the largest domain registrar turning the company into one of the largest web hosting companies in the world. In 2009, GoDaddy reported that their per annum revenue topped $750 million. When you compare Superb Internet with GoDaddy, it sounds like a comparison similar to David and Goliath when you look at the scale of the two web hosting companies. Although Superb Internet is a much smaller company, their product focal area differs.
GoDaddy is a large web hosting company that built its empire becoming the industry leader of providing Domain Name Registrations. Using aggressive pricing on the price of their domains along with their proprietary control panel for domain management, GoDaddy has dominated the DNR market. With DNR as their core product, GoDaddy capitalized on their customer base and become on of the largest shared web hosting providers. Superb Internet also provides domain name registration along with shared web hosting, but focuses primarily on dedicated servers.
When we look at the price of each company’s web hosting services, GoDaddy appears to be cheaper. In truth, that is to be expected. GoDaddy is a place I would recommend if you are starting out with a new website. However, there will come a time when you outgrow your shared hosting and when you will want to have a dedicated server. If you ever come to this crossroad, congratulate yourself on building a successful website. Afterwards, thank your web hosting company for helping you get this far and then start your research of real dedicated server companies like Superb Internet. Don’t get me wrong, GoDaddy is a solid company and their financial success speaks for itself, but specializing in dedicated server hosting is not their niche.
It all starts with having impeccable uptime along with fast connectivity. Dedicated server companies invest significantly more within their network infrastructure to meet the demands of us customers who care about full redundancy, low latency, and fast download speeds. God forbid something goes wrong (knock on wood) or if you just need help with some configuration, you are better off in the hands of a technical support team within a dedicated server company. First, the technical knowledge tends to be higher. Secondly, the support staff is used to dealing with all sorts of questions related to dedicated server hosting so they are able to help you quicker and be more efficient so they don’t waste your time. On the flipside, if you just want to get a cheap web hosting plan, going with a company like GoDaddy can be advantageous because they are used to seeing all kinds of questions related to shared hosting.
To sum up, if we are comparing which hosting company is better between Superb Internet vs GoDaddy, it all depends on what type of hosting you need. If you need domain names registered, GoDaddy wins. If you are just starting out and want a basic cheap hosting plan, I would be inclined to try out GoDaddy. If you have more serious needs for web hosting and want a dedicated server, managed hosting , or even colocation, I would go with Superb Internet without hesitation.

On August 15th through the 17th, the Affiliate Summit East was held at the Hilton Hotel in New York City. Superb Internet featured their web hosting offerings to internet marketers. For the beginners out there, start off using WordPress. This platform is one of the easiest ways to put a website up. Although WordPress was conceived as a blogging solution, it is widely used to manage other types of websites, even e-commerce stores. Most importantly, WordPress is awesome for SEO meaning it is search engine friendly. A website that is optimized for search engines will allow customers to find your website easier.
I have to say, Superb Internet had the absolute best gift they were giving out during the Affiliate Summit conference… a funnel s a.k.a. beer bong! I’ve been to a lot of these conferences and I have a huge stack of thumb hard drives, pens, water bottles, key chains, flash lights, and such. A beer bong is so unique. It is a good thing I was able to pick it up because I heard they ran out of it. Overall, the Affiliate Summit East was pretty good to meet folks within the industry as well as picking up some new tips. I highly recommend this event to any aspiring affiliate marketer.

Initially, R1Soft takes makes a backup dump of your hard drive partition. Every day the deltas, or data that has changed from the previous backup, gets backed up making available an image of your partition every day. So what does this mean? Now your server’s resources are more efficient because you no longer have to backup the same data every day. R1Soft knows what data has changed and can make a restore point from any day as long as it’s within its retention policy. Best of all, if you need to do a restore, R1Soft utilizes a technology called Bare-metal Restore which cuts down the time for a full restore significantly so you can but up and running in no time.
The managed firewall is a hardware-based firewall using Cisco FWSM. The Cisco FWSM actually resides on the switch level and is preferred by many system administrators because of its redundant configuration. Since Superb Internet’s network is fully redundant, if one of the firewalls were to not work, it would fail over to the other so your online site is continuously available.
OS hardening is a must for beginners and also the experienced that are a little lazy. It is important to understand that operating systems are quite vulnerable for unauthorized access right out of the box. Patches and updates I like since now there is one less thing for me to worry about.
